The Anvil of Winterstith


Update 23.2 brings a new raid to Lord of the Rings Online: The Anvil of Winterstith! NOTE: THE NEW RAID OPENS AT 10:00 AM Eastern on Thursday, January 10th. Venture into the lair of an ancient frost dragon to prevent Karazgar, the Weeping Warrior, from adding the massive Frost-horde to his host! This multi-boss raid will initially be available in Tier 1 and Tier 2 difficulty, with Tier 3 unlocking in about a month. The raid also features time-limited titles for those brave, creative, and strong enough to succeed! Tier 2 and Tier 3 titles will be available until approximately one month after Tier 3 difficulty is released, with both title grants ending simultaneously. 

News and Notes:

Classes

• Fixed an issue that was causing Grimbeorn's Spirit buff to stop working if the caster used it on themselves.
• Class Trait points have been capped at 92 points for now. Points over the cap can be earned but not spent. Note that players can currently only earn 91 Class Trait points, so there is no visible change.
• Specialization Capstone Traits (Traits in the 7th and highest tier of each Specialization tree) now require players to be in that specialization, and at least level 45, in order to spend points to gain those particular Traits.
• Lore-masters' Legendary Brown Wizard Trait now grants a large general buff to summoned pets, rather than a +3 level modifier. This benefit stacks with all other pet buffs.
• Most Beorning melee skills now have their proper hit sound effects.
• Beornings' Encouraging Roar final effect has been brought down to its intended levels when applied to a Fellowship via the set bonus.
• The Beorning movement speed buff from Wanderlust now overrides most other movement buffs.
• Aid the Assault now heals the Beorning using Relentless Maul.
• Beornings' Sacrifice buff now lasts its proper 20 seconds.
• Beornings can no longer use bows in bear-form.

Crafting

• Empowered Mithrin Essences can now be crafted.

Items

• The icons for Figments of Splendour, Motes of Enchantment, and Embers of Enchantment have been updated to make them easier to identify at a glance.

• Ironfold Crafting Tier now available for purchase.

Quests and Adventure Areas

• New Ironfold Quests: Náin the Slakeless has need of your assistance in the Ironfold! Players must have completed the Ironfold quest The Lord of Iron in order to unlock this new quest content, which begins with Beneath the Fold. These quests are level 120.
• The quest chain called The Secret of the Council has returned to Moria. Players can find the map somewhere within Moria's depths to begin the quest.
• Weekly Raid Skirmish quests are once again able to be completed.
• NPCs in the Three-farrow Crafting Hall and Bree-town Vault no longer fall through their chairs.
• A placement issue with a water volume in the Withered Heath has been fixed.
• Brush has been cleared from the Barrow of Taradan's entrance.
• Stair placement has been adjusted in Thikil-gundu's library.

UI

• A vertical resize handle has been added to the Quest Log.
• A resize handle has been added to the NPC interaction panel.
• Updates have been made to the French and German Character Creation user interfaces.

Miscellaneous

• Undiscovered Stable-master vendor icons are no longer culled by Dynamic Particle Rendering settings.
• Updates have been made to the French and German Character Creation user interfaces.

Known Issues:

• The Anvil of Winterstith (Tier 2) bestowal dialogue incorrectly states that the quest resets every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. This quest only resets on Thursday.
